San Antonio Attractions

San Antonio was colonized in the early part of the eighteenth century and thereafter Native Americans and Old Mexico have integrated which has made it a very varied,interesting and enjoyable city to visit.

No visit to San Antonio would be complete without a visit to the Alamo and this should be right at the top of your list. The Alamo was originally built as a mission in the eighteenth century and was just one of five missions built at that time. It became well known later having become a fort, as the place where Mexico tried to unnsuccessfully retake the alamo in 1836, after having lost the battle to stop Texas becoming independent 1835.

A further attraction which should not be missed is La Villita which was built by Spanish soldiers who were stationed at the Alamo. It is situated in the center of downtown San Antonio, where today you will also find Artists, Craftsmen as well as shops and restaurants

If you are seeking some fine restaurants on your visit to San Antonio, Market Square contains some of the very best, as well as shops and Galleries. Also regular festivals take place in Market Square.

A way to combine learning and have some fun at the same time is to go to the Buckhorn Museum. The museum contains an old fashioned saloon which has been turned into a cafe. The Buckhorn Saloon was established 120 years ago. You can have yourself a great wild west experience here.

Nightlife. There is lots of nightlife to be esperienced in San Antonio, from enjoying a drink in a casual bar,sampling Mexican Treats in a cafe to visiting a night club.

One of the main areas is the historic River Walk which has many restaurants and lots of Music Venues. If you like country dancing try Floores Country Store.

Before you end your vacation in San Antonio you may wish to visit one of he city's great attractions which include: San Antonio Botanical Gardens, San Antonio City Tours, Alamo Trolley, and many more.

If you have young children in the family traveling with you, another of the City's attractions is The San Antonio Children Museum, where children can play and learn at the same time. Within the Childrens Museum there are 80 or so interactive exhibits. These include: A kid powered elevator, Art Exhibits, for children in the age range of 2 to 10 years. There are also Science Experiments and a lot more.

If you wish to do some final shopping visit North Star Mall which hosts over 200 stores and restaurants. The store is located in the city center near to The San Antonio International Airport.
